The Christian Response to the Coronavirus
The Good Shepherd
Thursday, April 9, 2020
As we take our walk with Jesus, we must become extremely thankful that Jesus is our Good Shepherd. In St. John 10:1, Jesus says “I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” I am so glad that our Good Shepherd is good. The word good translated means, intrinsically good, beautiful, and fair. God is good! God is good all the time and all the time God is good. To call him good is the same as calling him God. God is good and God will be good to us during this coronavirus pandemic. God was good prior to Coronavirus. God is God during this coronavirus. God will still be God postcoronavirus.
A Good Shepherd will lead you, feed you and bleed for you. A fake and false shepherd is a hireling. The Bible says in John 10:12, “But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth, and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.”
The Good Shepherd, our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, died for the sheep; we are the sheep. Under the old dispensation, the sheep died for the shepherd, but now, the Good Shepherd died for the sheep (St. John 10:11, 15, 17-18.) Listen, Jesus said in St. John 10: 18, “No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down and I have power to take it again.” Jesus died for our sins; Jesus buried our sins; Jesus was risen from the grave.
I hope you are a part of God’s flock. I hope you can say in the midst of this coronavirus outbreak, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want!” You should tell your Good Shepherd “Thank you, Jesus!” Your sheep are listening to your voice and your sheep know that God cares!! AMEN!
