The Christian Response to the Coronavirus
Because of Calvary

Because of Calvary, Jesus nailed our sin nature on the cross. The Good Shepherd died for the sheep. Remember, the sheep didn’t die for the Shepherd, and the sinner couldn’t die for the Savior. Because of the sin nature, we were doomed for eternal death and damnation. David says in Psalm 51:5, “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.” The sin of Adam in the Garden of Eden was the fall of human kind.
Adam’s sins bankrupted our nature, our soul, our mind and our body. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) A sin sick soul will keep us from experiencing the glory of God and living in the promises of God. However, because of Calvary, we can now experience the peace from God and the peace of God. Here it is: “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1) Stop and take a praise break! There’s peace with God because Jesus, way back on Calvary, paid the penalty for our sins. “For when we were yet without strength, in due time, Christ died for the ungodly.” (Romans 5:6)
Today is Easter Saturday. A few thousand years ago, on that Good Friday, Jesus hung on that cross to forgive us of our sins, our hangovers and our hang ups. He hung on the cross! He died! All night Saturday! But early that Sunday morning, Jesus got up and said…you know what He said, don’t you? “All power is given unto me in heaven and on earth!” (St. Matthew 28:18). All power: power over demons, evil, depression, sin, hell, bipolar, germs, diseases, including the coronavirus!
Calvary…Calvary…Calvary…Calvary…Calvary…Calvary…Surely He died on Calvary.
Every time I think about Jesus, every time I think about Jesus, Surely he died on Calvary.
Don’t you hear the hammer ringing? Don’t you hear him calling his father?
Don’t you hear him saying, it is finished?
Jesus furnished my salvation. Sinner do you love my Jesus? AMEN.
