Community gets ready for Twelfth Annual Father Daughter dance

It is time for the 12th Annual Daddy Daughter Dance, hosted by The Rotary Club of Tallahassee Northside Rotary with major sponsor Capital Regional Medical Center. Dust off those dancing shoes, put on a party outfit and prepare to make it a special night for “Daddy’s Little Girl[s].”
The dance will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, at The Moon in Tallahassee.
This year to accommodate different musical tastes and bed times, there will be a tea dance with light refreshments for dads with daughters under 12 from 5 pm to 7 p.m. Tickets for this event are $35 for a couple. Tickets for the tea dance are ONLY available on line. Beginning at 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. the regular Dance will begin. Tickets for this event are $55. Extra daughters are $15.
Dads and daughters of all ages are welcome. Many couples return year after year (some even coming for all of our 12 years). To buy tickets go to our website (www.rotaryddd.com). Tickets are also being sold at all three Sonny’s Bar-B-Q locations and the Moon box office. Tickets may be available at the door, assuming we do not sell out. At the door, ticket prices go up to $45/25.
This community-wide charity event is open to fathers, grandfathers, uncles or other father figures and their daughters from Tallahassee and surrounding areas. Attendance grows every year. Last year, over 1250 people attended. Proceeds help local and international charities supported by The Rotary Club of Tallahassee Northside, including Rotary Youth Camp for children with disabilities, Hands Helping Angles a fun fishing day for adults who are disabled, Turtle Tutors mentoring elementary school readers, wheel chair repair vocational program in Coast Rica, New Start at TCC and Peace Jam.
Volunteers from across the community chip in to help, as this dance requires a lot of man (and woman) power. Local businesses — including florists, balloon decorators, and food providers — contribute in the form of in-kind donations to help keep the costs of producing such an event down. Other businesses such as Capital Regional Medical Center, the Earl Bacon Agency, Cumulus Broadcasting, Florida Power & Light and Northwood / Southwood Animal Hospitals donate in the form of in kind or financial sponsorships. This allows all of the ticket sales’ proceeds to go to charitable projects.
