The Christian Response to the Coronavirus

The Door!

As we prayerfully listen to the voice of Jesus during this Holy Week 2020, I think Jesus has a lot to say to us. As we remember “Calvary,” Jesus taught us remarkably about several of the “I AM’S OF GOD.” St. John 10:9 tells us, “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”

I hope and pray that when, and if you go in and out, that you will “pasture.” That means nourishment, sustenance, strength, provision, energy and encouragement. Jesus is the “door.” Jesus says “I am the door.” The door is open. Jesus welcomes us to come through Him, the “door.” Any believer can enter into the “door.” Jesus reminds us why it is necessary that we understand that He is the door. “All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.” (John 10:8) Praise God, we must not listen to the thieves and robbers. They are door blockers, dream destroyers and naysayers.

Jesus explains better than I ever can, the nature of the joy killers. “The thief cometh not but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: for I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10) I trust you will continue to believe that Jesus is the “door” and his purpose is to give us a life of abundance. This coronavirus virus comes to steal, kill and destroy. Let’s enter the “Door” and Jesus will meet us gladly and give us that “unspeakable joy!” Amen.
