Van Camp named director of Lively Technical College
Special to the Outlook
BJ Van Camp has been selected as the new director of Lively Technical College.
“I am excited for the future of Lively Technical College as we continue to develop innovative workforce pathways for our young LCS students and adult residents in Leon County, giving them the skills they need to compete for jobs in our community,” said LCS Superintendent Rocky Hanna. “Having served at many different levels of school administration, Mrs. Van Camp has the experience, vision and leadership to keep Lively at the forefront of helping students reach their goals and their next step in life.”
Van Camp replaces Shelly Bell, who was recently named the Vice President of Workforce Development at Tallahassee Community College.
With more than 20 years of service as an educator at Leon County Schools, Van Camp most recently served as an assistant principal at Augusta Raa Middle School. Prior to Raa, she was an assistant principal at Godby High School and Principal of Hartsfield Elementary School.
“I am looking forward to hitting the ground running and building on the wonderful foundation Director Shelly Bell has developed,” said Van Camp. “I cannot wait to meet the amazing Lively staff and get to work providing the best opportunities for young people to succeed in our community.”
Bell applauded LCS for making Van Camp her replacement.
“I am thrilled to learn that BJ Van Camp will be the new director of Lively Technical College,” said Bell. “I have no doubt she will expand workforce offerings by partnering with the local business community to respond and prepare for the future. I look forward to working with her in the future in my capacity at TCC.”
