God’s work of salvation is an unparalleled work of grace, mercy and compassion that can be seen throughout the panorama of scripture. In the 30th verse of the 14th chapter of Exodus the Bible states that after Pharaoh dared to lay his hands of injustice and cruelty upon the Israelites that the Lord saved Israel from the hand of the Egyptians and Israel saw the Egyptians dead, devastated, utterly demolished on the seashore.

On another occasion, the 47th verse of the 17th chapter of the book of First Samuel begins a passage which zooms in on the classic encounter between David and Goliath. And it is in this striking confrontation that David stands before a Giant adorned in superior armor and says,
“You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you down and cut off your head. And I will give the dead bodies of the host of the Philistines this day to the birds of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, and that all this assembly may know that the LORD saves not with sword and spear. For the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give you into our hand.”

Knowing that the battles of life belong to God and are supervised by God allows us to celebrate God’s power to save us and secure the victory for us! Believers know that He has made us and we are His; and that we are His people and the sheep of His pasture! And so every chance we get we ought to enter his gates with thanksgiving and come into his courts with praise! We ought to give Him thanks and bless His name! For we know that the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting and His truth endures forever!

The evidence which verifies that He has done marvelous things confirms that

God has and is continuing to achieve salvation for His people. In achieving salvation God delivers and provides victory that cannot be reversed by anyone power outside of His!

The marvelous aspect of God’s salvation enterprise is that God reveals His power to those who may not know Him and always reaffirms His power for those who do know Him and dare to trust in Him even when circumstances seem impossible to deal with! This is security of the believer.
