At an early age, children constantly ask their parents the “Why” question. When young children get an answer to one question, they quickly ask another question. These questions may vary depending on the developmental stage of the child. For example, one child might ask a parent, “Why is the sun yellow? Another child might ask a parent a sex related question such as, “Why is my body different from my sibling? These types of expressions have led me to publish a Jacob’s Dream book series for children. The goal is to help children expand their natural curiosity and make the connection to different things they see, hear and do in life.
In the first book, Jacob’s Dream, A Story of Careers for Children, Jacob dreams about careers in different professions such as a teacher, attorney and doctor. The careers in this book mirror examples of the 16 national career clusters of the U.S. Department of Education. In the second book, Jacob’s Dream, A Story of Animals in Africa, Jacob dreams about 16 African animals and their habitats. In the third book, A Lesson on Alphabets and Continents, Jacob’s dreams about the 26 letters in the alphabet, seven continents and 14 countries in the world. In the fourth and latest book, Jacob’s Dream, A Lesson on Numbers and Birds, Jacob dreams about numbers from 1 -10 and North American birds.
All of Jacob’s Dream books provide colorful illustrations to capture children’s imagination while developing their ability to think, read and learn. Children can color the illustrations on each page, which further enhances the learning process.
It is imperative that children are encouraged to ask questions. It is also important that children are provided the necessary answers to their questions and resources to develop their minds. To order these books, visit: Amazon.com; Authorhouse.com; or Barnes and Noble
