The Christian Response to the Coronavirus

Knowing Jesus

In times like these, we must become more keenly aware of who is the Lord God Almighty. You need to know who God is for yourself. It won’t work if you don’t have a personal, intimate and growing relationship with the living Lord.

This week is Holy Week. During this time, Peter denied the Lord three times. Now, the Lord told him that he would deny him. The pressure got to Peter and he cracked as recorded in St. Matthew 26:74-75: “Then began he to curse and to swear, saying I don’t know the man: and immediately the cock crew.” Additionally, Luke confirms that Peter recalled what the Lord had told him: “Then Peter remembered the word that the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times. And he went outside and wept bitterly.” (St. Luke 22: 61(b)-62) Don’t allow this coronavirus crisis to make you start cursing your blessings and deny the living savior. During these uncertain times, be sure your “Anchor holds and grips the solid rock; that rock is Jesus, He’s the only one.”

My friend, Peter did make a comeback. He met the Risen Christ and became one of Jesus’ most faithful disciples. He knew that a closer relationship with Jesus does matter. I hope these days will give you a renewed hope and trust in Jesus Christ. The apostle Peter helps us on how to strengthen our relationship with the Savior. “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our lord and savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever.” (2 Peter 3:18) Amen.
