Tallahassee Community College’s Division of Workforce Development has been selected as a finalist for the 2022 Bellwether Award established by the Bellwether College Consortium.

Thirty community colleges were named as finalists in three categories. TCC is one of 10 finalists in the Workforce Development category which identifies strategic alliances that promote community and economic development. Other categories are Instructional Programs and Services which recognizes programs and services that foster or support teaching and learning in the community college, and planning, governing, and finance which recognizes programs or activities that improve efficiency and effectiveness in the community college.

The Bellwether Awards, sponsored by the Alamo Colleges District, are widely regarded as one of the nation’s most competitive and prestigious recognitions for community colleges. Bellwether finalists represent leading community colleges whose outstanding and innovative programs and practices were selected among competitive submissions as exemplary.

“Being recognized as one of the top 10 finalists in the nation is an honor beyond anything that I could have ever dreamt of,” said Kimberly A. Moore, ice president for Workforce Innovation and TCC2WORK. “This recognition would not be possible were it not for an amazing team who believes in the ‘power of us’ and that we have the ability to create best practices that can shape the state and nation’s workforce development efforts.”

The finalists will provide a 60-minute presentation on its program or model at the 28th Annual Community College Futures Assembly which takes place annually as an independent national consortium for key higher education leaders to work as a think tank in identifying critical issues facing the future of community colleges. The 2022 event begins Jan. 30 in San Antonio, Texas. Presentations will be judged by an anonymous panel, recognized as skilled practitioners and thought leaders in the field.

The Bellwether College Consortium is a group of colleges charged with addressing the critical issues facing community colleges through applicable research and the promotion and replication of best practices addressing workforce development, instructional programs and services, and planning, governance and finance.
