TCC alum Davis among FAMU’s All-SWAC selections

TCC alum Jania Davis received first-team All-SWAC honors after a stellar regular season for the FAMU Rattlers.
Davis hit .328 and stole 14 bases as a center fielder for the Rattlers. She recorded 64 putouts and eight outfield assists, making just three errors throughout the campaign. FAMU finished the regular season with a 20-24 (13-11) record.
Davis had an incredible two-year career for TCC, playing in 59 games recording 86 hits and 42 stolen bases. She hit .426 with the Eagles, including a .477 mark in her sophomore season. That season she was named Panhandle Conference Player of the Year and received first-team FCSAA All-State honors.
In addition to Davis, three of her FAMU teammates were also named to All-SWAC teams, including Melkayla Irvis and Jania Davis on the first team. Nyah Morgan and Jane’a Mobley made the Second Team.
“I’m excited to have Melkayla, Jania, Nyah, and Jane’a voted first and second team all-conference,” said head coach Camise Patterson. “They have put in a lot of hard work this year, and to have that acknowledged by other coaches is incredible. Not only did these four lead conference and national statistics they will be alumna by the end of summer. I’m proud of them all.”
Irvis was one of the top batters in the SWAC this year, proving to be one of the best hitters in the nation.
She ranked third in the nation with seven triples and second in the nation in triples per game (first in the SWAC in both). Irvis also impressed with an OPS of 1.081 (sixth in SWAC), on-base percentage of .487 (seventh in SWAC), slugging percentage of .594 (eighth in SWAC), batting average of .375 (eighth in SWAC), 16 steals (14th in SWAC), and 24 runs scored (19th in SWAC). Irvis also had 36 hits, 18 RBIs, and seven doubles.
Morgan proved to be one of the Rattlers’ top batters again after leading the team with 25 RBIs (11th in SWAC), 13 doubles (second in SWAC), and five home runs (ninth in SWAC). Morgan also ranked fourth in the nation with six sacrifice flies (first in SWAC) and 26th in doubles per game (first in SWAC). Morgan also had an OPS of .936 (17th in SWAC) and a slugging percentage of .561 (11th in SWAC). Morgan also earned one SWAC Co-Hitter of the Week.
Mobley proved to be one of the top hitters for the Rattlers after finishing with the second most hits (37, 21st in SWAC), RBIs (22, T-17 in SWAC), and doubles (11, third in SWAC) on the team. Mobley also ranked 15th in the nation, with five sacrifice flies (second in SWAC behind FAMU’s Morgan. Mobley had an OPS of .837 and scored 14 runs. Mobley also earned one SWAC Hitter of the Week.
