Semrau, Wyckoff join Coaches 4 Change

Florida State Women’s Basketball coaches Sue Semrau and Brooke Wyckoff will be partnering with Coaches 4 Change (C4C), an organization founded by college basketball coaches who are dedicated to helping their student-athletes, their campus and their communities.
The upstart organization was created following the recent civil unrest that has blanketed the United States and caught the attention of much of the world. The mission of C4C is to provide a platform that engages, educates, empowers, and evolves the collegiate student-athlete on issues of social injustice, systemic racism, and the power of voting in the endless pursuit of equality.
Semrau, Wyckoff and the rest of the Florida State women’s basketball coaching staff have been active in making their voices heard over the issues that plague many African-Americans across the country. Open dialogue between the coaching staff and the student-athletes has been abundant this off-season, especially considering the nature in which the world is living in with COVID-19.

“This is special to be part of,” Semrau said of joining the organization. “I’m proud of my fellow men’s and women’s basketball colleagues for banding together so we can make our voices heard on the issues of equality. Systemic racism is something that our nation needs to rise up and defeat. I’ve always thought of athletics as the vehicle for positive change. We will continue to use our platform to inspire the change that our world needs.”
The four pillars of Coaches 4 Change include:
• ENGAGE our fellow coaches and student-athletes within our campus and local communities. Raise awareness and involvement in the endless pursuit for equality through voter registration.
• EDUCATE our fellow coaches and student athletes with historical information pertaining to systemic racism, social injustice, police brutality, and significant events that have shaped our country.
• EMPOWER our fellow coaches and student-athletes to inspire change through the power of voting.
• EVOLVE the minds of our fellow coaches and student-athletes to help foster positive changes within their collegiate and local communities surrounding the issues of racism & social injustice.
“It is an honor to be part of Coaches 4 Change. It’s a commitment I take very seriously,” Wyckoff added. “The mission to engage, educate, empower and evolve our student-athletes is critical for their individual development, and for the betterment of our society at large. I look forward to seeing what can be accomplished together with my fellow members of Coaches 4 Change.”
