The final touch was put on the Maggie B. Lewis- Butler Science Building at James S. Rickards High School during a recent celebration of the former Leon County School Board member and science teacher.
Butler-Lewis’ photo and biography were added to the building that was named for her in 2021. She taught Science for 30 years and served as a school board member for 22 years.
A highlight of the ceremony was presentation of a $500 scholarship by Lewis-Butler, which will go to a graduating senior, who enrolled in a college to study science as a major. Current school board member Darryl Jones also presented scholarships of $500 each to two Rickards students who graduates this spring.
