Report Card Rally Reminds Local Youth To Excel In The Classroom

The Homeschool Classroom Inc. held their Report Card Rally-2nd lap on Oct. 28 at Kraft Nissan, to celebrate all of the local youth who made good grades on their report cards this first nine weeks.

 
Cynthia Covington of Homeschool Classroom Inc. says that their program focuses on home education as an option for K-12 students and for all children who have ADHD and Autism.

 
“We know that many of our children don’t have to face these obstacles, so we just got to thinking about the other children that we can’t help,” said Covington.
“We feel like the students of public schools go through a lot of obstacles. From 6:30 in the morning, they’re on the school bus before daylight carrying 15 pounds of books. They deal with drug abuse and so many other things in their lives, and they really don’t have anyone saying you’re doing a good job.”

 
The event is designed to encourage the students in Leon and surrounding counties to work hard in the classroom and continue to strive to make good grades, despite the obstacles they may face in school or in their daily lives.

 
“We just wanted to make sure they had somewhere to go and have a good time. We wanted to make sure that the community got supported,” said Chris Kraft Jr. of Kraft Nissan.

 
The event is held both in the spring and fall after the first batch of report cards have been distributed. Their first time holding this event was last spring and they plan to keep this event going strong as they help to encourage local students to strive for excellence.

 
Kids enjoyed pizza, games, face painting and much more as they celebrated all of their hard work in the classroom for the first nine weeks of the 2015-2016 school year.
Along with all of the many youth in attendance were businesses that are in support of these students and all the challenges they may face day-in and day-out.
“We just thought that our community partners wanted to come together and say that you’re doing a good job,” Covington said.

 
Businesses for kids’ entertainment, arts and crafts, as well as businesses for parents with information on finances, insurance and more were all present at this lively event.
“I think it’s a wonderful event for the kids to get out and see what’s available to them in the city and I think it’s a great way for vendors to get out there and help, said local parent, Tracy Southerland.

 
Homeschool Classroom Inc. will have their next lap of the Report Card Rally again in January as they have their third event and first of 2016.
“This is our second year and we’re looking forward to the future,” Kraft said.
