Rattlers score wins in tune up for SWAC meet

The FAMU track and field team made good of its last competitive tune before the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship, winning eight events.
In all, the Rattlers had 23 total medalist performances at the Celebration Pointe Indoor Classic in Gainesville. Nine of the winning results were a collegiate or indoor best.
The next outing for the Rattlers is the SWAC championships on Feb. 16-17.
With the outcome in the last two meets – the Celebration Pointe Classic and Alachua County Collegiate Invitational — Kiara Ivy (pole vault), Denae Hill (shot put), and Forrest Booker (triple jump) are working back-to-back first-place finishes in their respective events
Additional achievements by the Rattlers included record-setting performance by Mia Heard, Imani Walker, Hill, Kobe Gibson and Samuel Gardner. They broke facility records in the long jump, shot put, and 60-meter dash, respectively.
The previous facility record for the 60-meter race was 7.09.
The previous facility record in the long jump was 5.25m (17 feet, 2¾ inches). The previous facility record for the shot put was 11.85 meters (38 feet, 10½ inches).
Heard also swept the long jump and triple jump events at the Celebration Pointe Classic.
