New Birth Dedicated to Improving Griffin Heights

New Birth Tabernacle of Praise is a church that is not only promoting God but being Christ-like by being a platform for improvement in the Griffin Heights neighborhood.
Capital Outlook and Live Communications has recognized New Birth Tabernacle of Praise as the church of the year for 2014.
Rev. Rudy Ferguson of New Birth Tabernacle of Praise is an activist in his community. The accolade came as a surprise.
“It’s an honor –It’s a surprise to know that we were even nominated or looked at as an outstanding church. It’s an awesome acknowledgment to be a part of,” said Ferguson.
Ferguson has been seeking support from the Tallahassee community to get involved in improving the Griffin Heights neighborhood. He’s reached out to a group of 35 pastors of other neighborhood-based churches in Tallahassee, to lend their support and financial pledges to his “Do Good for the Hood” campaign as part of The Frontline Project.
New Birth Tabernacle of Praise is a church that has been active in the crusade to improve the community. New Birth Tabernacle of Praise has hosted gun violence discussions, GED programs, Do Good for the Hood campaign and etc.
“We will continue to be a beacon of hope and light for a community that has been classified as one of the worst crime ridden, low poverty, unemployed community of Tallahassee. It’s an honor for us to continue to do that whether we receive an award or not. It’s always an honor just to work for God and do what we do in our community,” said Ferguson.
Reverend R.B. Holmes Jr., president and publisher of Capital Outlook chose New Birth Tabernacle of Praise as church of the year.
“Pastor Ferguson and his church have taken on a great challenge to rebuild the south side of the city. His vision is courageous and very much needed and appreciated,” said Holmes.
