New bests set on final day of NJCAA Championships

HOBBS, NM – Day three of competition at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships saw some more bests from TCC athletes. 

Sophomore Troy Williams set a season best and came close to a personal record in the 400-meter hurdles, winning his heat and finishing with the 15th best time (53.98) in the event. 

Williams caps off his two-year career with TCC as the only athlete to qualify for the NJCAA Championships more than once. 

TCC finishes the meet with three school records: Freshman Lynette Scutari in the 100-meter and 200-meter dash, and Freshman Justin Moore in the 400-meter dash. 

Sophomore Raeven Byrd was the first TCC athlete to compete and her best attempt in the triple jump was 10.61 meters, just 0.02 meters shy of the school record. She finished in 17th in the event. 

Moore set a school record in the 400-meter dash, finishing in a time of 50.43.
