National Bar Association names Pittman to General Counsel post
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Florida Attorney Sean Pittman was named General Counsel of the National Bar Association at the organization’s annual convention, which was held virtually this year.
Each year, the incoming president of the 96-year-old association chooses a qualified and dedicated member to present before the Board of Governors as its next General Counsel. Pittman was unanimously approved by the NBA Board of Governors last week during the first board meeting of president Carlos Moore’s administration.
Pittman is founder and managing partner of Pittman Law Group, P.L., which is based in Tallahassee.
“I am humbled by the great honor and responsibility to help lead this prestigious organization by providing reliable legal advice and guidance to President Carlos Moore, the NBA Board of Governors and my peer attorneys across the country,” said Pittman. “The National Bar Association has a proud history of supporting and engaging America’s Black attorneys and significant issues impacting Black people and communities.
“I am excited to play a larger role with the NBA as the existence and importance of the organization is exacerbated by COVID-19, healthcare and wealth disparities, police brutality, voter suppression and the impact these issues have on black people and our communities in America.”
The National Bar Association is the largest network of predominantly Black American attorneys and judges. Founded in 1925, this association is the oldest of its kind. Headquartered in Washington, D.C. with chapters throughout the United States, the NBA has historically been a strong voice for the rights of Black people, marginalized communities, and underserved populations across the country.
Moore, a Mississippi attorney, was recently sworn in as the 79th President of the association and his first order of business was to select Pittman as General Counsel.

As President of the NBA, Moore joins a distinguished list of former presidents that included Benjamin Crump, Senator Arthenia Joyner and attorney Daryl Parks

The announcement of Sean Pittman as NBA General Counsel comes as Pittman’s Florida based law firm celebrates its 20-year anniversary and opens a new Orlando office – adding to Tallahassee, Miami, and Riviera Beach.
