Museum’s Children’s Day is Education and Fun All Tied Into One

Music, giggles and excited little voices could be heard all over the Museum of Florida History, where the 32nd Annual Children’s Day took place.

Children’s Day was filled with face painting, Disney characters, performances and different educational activities for children to enjoy.

“My husband, a couple of our friends and I decided to come out and bring the children to enjoy some educational fun,” said Letitia Tolbert mother of three. “The atmosphere here has been great, to see both adults and children kind of get involved with face painting and interaction with the actual characters here.”

Throughout the museum were different educational stations, along with activities for the children to participate in such as learning CPR from the American Red Cross.

“My daughter is really enjoying herself and from a parent’s aspect I love to watch her have fun and learn at the same time,” said Mikerra Johnson. “We will definitely be bringing our daughter next year and also spreading the word to other residents here in Tallahassee so they can bring their family and enjoy the different events.”

Some of the performances included: the African Caribbean Dance Theatre, Young Actors Theatre, Trousdell Gymnastics, and many other performers from different cultures.

“The performances were my favorite part,” Johnson said. “Children were able to get a feel of different cultures through the dances.”

The Museum of Florida History is home to many artifacts and educational history, which tells you all about the state of Florida.
