Men’s, women’s teams record top finishes for Rattlers

The Florida A&M track and field program wrapped action at the Carolina Challenge with two first-place finishes. DJ Lawrence highlighted the first day and Breanna Brown-Marshall was a top finisher on the women’s side.
Brown-Marshall claimed first with a 1.78-meter attempt in the high jump and later finished second in the long jump invite at a distance of 5.81 meters. The two-day event concluded Saturday.
The Rattlers recorded eight medalist honors; the 4×400 relay teams continued to dominate. Both the men and women posted season’s bests. The women’s team was comprised or Tionna Brown, Rori Lowe, Tatianna Martinez and Alesia Douglas. They finished third overall in a time of 3:49.02.
Kirk Dawkins was part of the men’s relay and also posted an individual best with a second-place 800-meter run in a time of 1:53.65.
The other runners on the team, which finished in a time of 3:16.46 were Kwame Smith, Norman Mukwada and Kendrick Winfield.
The FAMU teams returns to the University of South Carolina for the South Carolina Invite , beginning Feb. 2.
