Leon County Chapter of The Charmettes, Incorporated host 45th Annual Debutante Presentation and Ball

The Leon County Chapter of The Charmettes, Incorporated continued its tradition by formally presenting seven local high school students to the Tallahassee community in March at the FSU University Center Club.
“The annual Debutante Presentation and Ball is The Charmettes’ signature event of the year,” said Eunice Rivers, Leon County chapter president. “Their family, friends and the community celebrated their transition to adulthood.”
These local high school students went through a journey of philanthropic and community service projects, and are ready to take their steps towards finer womanhood. The selected young ladies are academic leaders at their respective schools, and are members of various clubs and organizations including student government, honor societies and sporting teams. These young women have also spent countless hours volunteering in the community.
The night began with light music. The Master of Ceremonies was Darryl Jones, executive director of the Bethel CDC. As the presentation begins, one is amazed as each of the young ladies, dressed in their formal gowns, pearls and white gloves, and is presented by their fathers to their family, friends and society. The mothers of the Debutantes presented their daughters with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and gave a congratulatory kiss on the cheek.
This year’s Miss Debutante 2016 is Miss Carmen Grant. The 1st runner-up is Miss Asantewaa Yaa Yamoah. The 2nd runner-up is Miss Genesis Triplett. Lastly, the 3rd runner-up is Miss Jordan Richardson.
This year’s 2016 Debutantes are the following: Carmen Grant – Lincoln High School; Taylar Alexander Hall – Lincoln High School; Amara Lewis – Chiles High School; Genesis Triplett –Rickards High School; Jordan Richardson – Lincoln High School; Moriah Treadwell – Chiles High School; and Asantewaa Yaa Yamoah – Lincoln High School.
“We have a very intelligent, enthusiastic and engaging group of young ladies that are poised for future leadership roles in our society,” said Tammy Hamlet, 2016 Debutante Presentation and Ball Chair.
The Leon County Chapter also have junior debutantes, who begin their journey for their Debutante Ball beginning at age 16.
