The Honorable Gwen Marshall (Leon), has received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2016, from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

For the twenty-first consecutive year, Leon County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller has earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the county’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) . This is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

The comprehensive annual financial report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of transparency and full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read it.

“I am extremely proud that my office has been able to carry on with the high standards set by my predecessors in receiving the GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the twenty-first straight year,” said Clerk Gwen Marshall. “These awards recognize that Leon County is achieving excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. We strive to provide the highest level of service and information to our citizens with these reports. It’s important that taxpayers know how and where their money is being spent and that they feel comfortable with our service and transparency. I want to thank my Staff of the Finance Department for their tremendous efforts in preparing these reports and the County Administrator and Commission for the great working relationship we have to make all this possible.”
