On Saturday, thousands of attendees gathered at the Bloxham and Lewis Parks located in the Downtown Chain of Parks to view over 100 artists during the LeMoyne Chain of Parks Art Festival this past Easter weekend.
His second time at the LeMoyne Art Festival Zimbabwean stone sculptor Peter Rujuwa showcased chisels of wildlife and tribal art named after the tribe Shona of Zimbabwe.
“What brings me back is the crowd, people and energy,” said Rujuwa. “I’ve lived with wildlife all of my life, my inspiration comes from the animals and natural elements of stone,” smiled the Indiana resident. Ceramist Larry Allen; Florida-based painters Eluster Richardson and AJ Brown; and Florida-based sculptor, A. Cesar Nogueria exhibited collections at the festival.
Graduating Florida A&M University (FAMU) Fine Arts student, Tatjana Lightbourn, used chalk to illustrate “A Child Inside of Me,” her personal story, taking the audience through her life, reminiscing on the love she found in the arts as a child.
“It is such a pleasure to be here among such great art and artists,” said Lightbourn. “My art is the story of my life and I cherish every creative opportunity to engage people with it.”
The 2018 art festival dates are Saturday, April 21 through Sunday, April 22.
