Lamb up for induction into Dillard University Athletics Hall of Fame

Eugene Lamb Jr., a sports figure in the Big Bend area for more than four decades, will be inducted into Dillard University Athletics Hall of Fame.
Lamb us a member of Tallahassee Community College’s Board of Trustees. The Dillard University induction is an honor awarded for outstanding achievements of athletes, coaches, and contributors who have made significant contributions to the university’s athletics.
Inductees are selected based on their skill, dedication, and sportsmanship throughout their careers. The induction ceremony will take place on May 8 at Dillard University in New Orleans.
A Gadsden County native, Lamb graduated from Havana Northside High School and was the first player named All-State in basketball from Northside. He continued his basketball career at Dillard where he was named to the All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Team. When he graduated in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education, he returned to Gadsden County and began his professional career as a teacher and coach.
After retiring from teaching in 2004 after more than 30 years, Lamb continued his impact on the community as a Gadsden County Commissioner for eight years, including two years as chair and as a member of the Midway Council, where he served as both mayor and mayor pro-tem.
Lamb has been a member of the Tallahassee Community College District Board of Trustees since 2007, when he was appointed by Governor Charlie Crist. He has served as Chair four times. In August, he was awarded the 2023 Southern Region Trustee Leadership award by the Association of Community College Trustees.
