Judge Hatchett Highlights Bethel Women’s Conference

Bethel Missionary Baptist Church hosted a 2015 Christian Women’s Conference that featured an array of activities for spiritual edification.
The Christian Women’s Conference kicked off on April 14 with a prayer service continued on April 17 with registration and a general session.
The highlight of the Christian Women’s Conference was on April 18 at the women’s luncheon. Claudette Hamilton, teaching leader for Bible Study Fellowship International Women’s class, opened the session.
Hamilton spoke on maintaining the right priorities while believing in God’s word.
“We find our true value in one place and that’s God; we find it in the love of God. We have value because of what God says about us not what other people say about us,” said Hamilton.
“God doesn’t want us to try to be something we’re not. Let’s stop trying to be Beyoncé or Cookie on Empire,” added Hamilton.
Dr. Veta Mobley-Johnson, and Dr. Kristi Reese, followed Hamilton with advice on health and taking care of oneself.
Keynote speaker, the Honorable Judge Glenda Hatchett concluded the session. Hatchett is a well- known television judge and author.
“I ask for prayers for all our children because we’re living in some difficult times. My heart is heavy when parents have little girls stolen from villages in Nigeria and don’t know if they’ll ever see them again. We’ve just marked the one year anniversary and the world has been silent about this,” said Hatchett.
Hatchett continued speaking on living life with a purpose.
“This community still bleeds from Trayvon Martin. I pray for a time when Zimmerman would roll down his window on a raining February night and instead of assuming he is a vicious criminal would say ‘son, where do you live? I’m the neighborhood watch can I get you out the rain? Can I help you son?’ ” added Hatchett.
The conference continued with a fashion extravaganza before wrapping up on April 19 with a Women’s Sunday School Class and 100 Voice Plus Choir for church service.
