Florida State baseball has finalized its administrative staff, head coach Link Jarrett announced last Tuesday.
Joining the staff is director of player development Sean Guite, while Chip Baker remains the director of operations. Courtney Caswell is now the recruiting and quality control assistant, and Nicki Bedgood returns as the administrative assistant.
Jarrett previously announced Rich Wallace as recruiting coordinator; Chuck Ristano as the pitching coach; Brad Vanderglas as the volunteer assistant coach and Seth Maness as the graduate assistant.
Guite, who is from Huntington Beach, Calif., spent the past three seasons as the director of operations at Notre Dame. He worked alongside Jarrett, Wallace, Ristano and Vanderglas. Prior to his time in South Bend, Guite was an assistant coach at Georgetown College in Kentucky after two years as a volunteer coach at UNC-Greensboro under Jarrett.
Guite was a two-year letterwinner for the Spartans from 2013-14, playing in 68 games at third base. As a senior, he earned first-team All-Southern Conference honors after hitting .366 with 74 hits, 52 runs scored, 15 doubles, three home runs and 21 RBI.
In the classroom, Guite was a Capital One Academic All-District First Team as a senior, earning SoCon All-Academic honors both years at UNCG before graduating with a degree in sociology in 2014.
At Florida State, Guite will manage technology video efficiency for the program; oversee student-athlete daily schedules, organizational efficiency, the student manager program, assist with practice preparation and help with collegiate summer league placements among other duties.
Baker, affectionately known as the Big Shooter, enters his 39th season at Florida State and his 21st as the director of operations after an 18-year stint as an assistant coach. A North Carolina native, Baker has been part of 16 Seminole teams that have made the College World Series, and Florida State has reached the postseason every year he has been with the program. Last season, Baker was a part of his 2,000th career victory as either a coach or administrator.
Baker will supervise facility enhancement projects, the game day experience at Dick Howser Stadium, manage the program’s budget, team travel logistics and serve as the external relations liaison to alumni, former players and other VIPs.
A former president of the Florida State Bat Girls, Caswell, from Tallahassee, has worked the past three seasons in an administrative fundraising role for the baseball program. A two-time graduate from Florida State, Caswell will assist in recruiting compliance, video technology, quality control with player development and oversee MLB Draft analysis.
Bedgood, a Florida State employee since 2002 in a variety of roles, is entering her fourth year with the baseball program. Bedgood oversees efficiencies for the office, budgeting, all correspondence and will assist Caswell with MLB Draft analysis.
