FSU midfielder Echegini makes Nigerian World Cup team

Onyi Echegini, a senior midfielder on Florida State’s 2022 College Cup team, has earned a spot on Nigeria’s World Cup team roster.

Echegini was named second team All-ACC this past season and was voted to the ACC All-Tournament team. She scored 11 goals and had six assists for a total of 28 points, which tied for the team lead. She started 20 of FSU’s 21 games last season and her 1,374 minutes played in her first season with the Seminoles ranked as the 10th highest on the team.

A native of London, England, Echegini will return for the Seminoles for the 2023 season.

Meanwhile, FSU added another key piece to its 2023 soccer squad, as former top 100 high school recruit Addie Todd will be wearing the Garnet and Gold this fall.

Todd was rated a four-star product and ranked the No. 56 player in the country by Top Drawer Soccer in the 2023 class and was one of the top goalkeepers in the nation. Todd is a native of A Littleton, Colo.

She was a three-time team captain for Columbine High School and was a member of the 2021 Colorado 5A All-State team. Todd helped her team to a state semifinal appearance in 2022 and also a quarterfinal appearance in 2021.

Todd was a part of the Real Colorado club team and helped the squad to the 2022 Under-17 ECNL National Championship. Todd was named a 2022 ECNL All-American and was also named to the ECNL Northwest Conference First Team. She was also invited to US Under-17 and Under-15 Women’s Youth National Team Camp.
