Franklin highlights $13.6 million for local projects

State Representative Gallop Franklin II has successfully secured over $13 million in state funding for local projects as part of this year’s State budget, which was recently signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis.
These appropriations, which were secured during the session that ended in the spring, will directly benefit residents of Gadsden and Leon counties, reflecting a commitment to addressing critical issues and investing in the well-being of our communities, according to a release from Franklin’s office.
“I have been focused on bringing resources to District 8 since my first day in the Florida House of Representatives,” said Franklin, who represents District 8. “I championed funding for 12 projects that will have a direct and positive impact on our constituents in Gadsden and Leon counties.”
The appropriations secured in the State budget will make a transformative impact across various areas of concern, ensuring a brighter future for all.
The funded projects include:
– Gadsden County Boys and Girls Club Facility: $3,618,705
– Town of Havana Electric Substation Repairs: $250,000
– AMIkids Prevention Programs: $700,000
– Gadsden County Emergency Operations Center and Public Safety Complex: $3,398,834
– Chattahoochee Fire Department Safety upgrades: $250,000
– Midway Volunteer Fire Department enhancement: $350,000
– Chattahoochee Police State Communication upgrades: $35,000
– Florida African Heritage Preservation Network: $800,000
– Florida Youth Leadership, Mentoring, and Character Education Pilot Program: $250,000
– Midway Septic to Sewer: $3,000,000
– South City Transit Center: $1,000,000
– Leon County Sickle Cell Foundation: $75,000
In addition to these local projects, Franklin successfully secured over $55 million in funding for infrastructure projects as part of the appropriations package. These projects include critical investments in educational facilities, research labs, and operational enhancements for Florida A&M University and Florida State University.
The Fiscal Year 2023-2024 funding package also includes crucial investments in salary increases for state workers, education, housing initiatives, and child healthcare programs, addressing pressing needs throughout District 8.
