Road to Awareness (1)

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – On Wednesday, October 14, the employees at Four Points
by Sheraton Tallahassee Downtown showed just how committed they are to
sustainability by participating in a nationwide fitness fundraiser. The
fundraiser, “Road to Awareness” is an event organized by Starwood Hotels &
Resorts as part of their larger “Together as One” campaign. Four Points’
participation in this project highlights the hotel’s ongoing commitment to
the community and their duty to engage in environmentally responsible
business practices.

Four Points is committed to green initiatives and this event was another way
for the LEED-certified hotel to engage in environmental stewardship. The
fundraiser itself was hosted by Starwood Hotels & Resorts a worldwide hotel
and leisure company, in association with the Clean the World organization, a
social enterprise committed to saving lives and protecting the planet.
Starwood encouraged their hotels to participate in this event to raise funds
for supporting aid efforts across the globe and Four Points was eager to
participate as its goals directly align with the hotel’s environmental
mission.

“Four Points always strives to be a steward of the community and to use our
resources to make the world a better place,” said Bo Schmitz, General
Manager of Four Points by Sheraton Tallahassee Downtown. “This fundraiser
was a perfect way for Four Points to continue in our dedication to
environmental sustainability while providing a great bonding experience for
our team.”

Four Points participated in this fundraiser with a goal to raising $300 to
be donated to Clean the World. All employees were encouraged to participate
in the event and friends and families were invited to donate to the cause.

In advance of the event, participating employees received pledges from
families and friends to donate money for every mile of exercise they would
complete during the fundraiser. All fundraising efforts culminated in the
fitness event on Wednesday, October 14, when the Four Points team rallied
together to walk, run and bike their way to their fundraising goal. Raising
a total of $370, Four Points surpassed their goal by $70.
