Special to the Outlook

Florida A&M University Department of Athletics recently announced that it has launched the Rattler Athletic Fund as its latest arm for fund-raising.

The move is aimed at increasing visibility of the university’s athletics fund-raising effort to broaden participation in athletics to wider range of investors.

The Rattler Athletic Fund will serve as the umbrella under which all giving to athletics will occur, recognizing donor support beyond just annual scholarships and ticket purchases. The RAF will also include all philanthropic gifts aimed at elevating the student-athlete experience in the pursuit of the mission of providing our student-athletes with the resources and facilities that they need in order to have a first class intercollegiate experience.

“We are excited to launch the Rattler Athletic Fund as the primary fundraising arm for the department of athletics,” said Kortne Gosha, vice president and director of athletics. “As we move forward and continue to serve our university community, Florida A&M athletics increasingly relies on the generosity of our loyal donors who invest and impact the lives of our student-athletes.

“Whether you are passionate about scholarships, facilities or impacting the programs directly, the Rattler Athletic Fund provides greater impact opportunities that are more comprehensive and better positions the department for future growth and success.”

Investing in Champions has operated as the annual scholarship fund for Florida A&M athletics and has been the primary means of recognizing gifts to support student-athlete scholarships served as the sole fund tied to benefits for season ticket holders throughout the year. Under the new model, the Rattler Athletic Fund will continue to prioritize and reward investments in support of scholarships.

However, all benefits associated with athletics will be administered through the Rattler Athletic Fund and will be based on giving to athletics and athletics initiatives through the annual fund.
