FAMU CASS building in full operation

The FAMU Center for Access and Student Success (CASS) is in full operation after the Division of Student Affairs staff moved into the complex located at 1735 Wahnish Way last week.
Students no longer have to walk down the hill east of Lee Hall to the Foote Hilyer Administration building for the health clinic, financial aid, Registrar and other services.
Offices those services have moved to the CASS building. The list of services includes the Center for Disability Access and Resources, Student Health Services, Student Counseling Services, Admissions and Enrollment Management, Ignite Transfer Services, Registrar, Student Accounts, Center for Academic Advising and Student Success, Office of Financial Aid, Career and Professional Development Center, Military and Veterans Affairs, University Scholarship Office, University Housing, Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution, University Ombudsman and the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.
William E. Hudson Jr., vice president for Student Affairs, said the transition has been smooth.
“The Center for Access and Student Success is a one-stop shop centralizing student services and provides a student-centered facility leveraging technology for improved business services,” Hudson said. “This facility epitomizes “Excellence with Caring” and will promote increasing recruitment, retention, persistence, graduation, and employment through the centralized services located in the building.”
The nearly $40 million, three-story, 73,000-square-foot building was built with funding from the state Legislature. It is a centerpiece of the University’s student success initiatives. A 42-foot, 1,800-pound sculpted bronze statue at the front of the building is expected to become a favorite for students taking graduation photos.
Foote Hilyer remains home to some divisions and offices, including Assessment, Audit, Compliance, General Counsel, Equal Opportunity Programs, Research, Institutional Research, Budget, Comptroller, Human Resources, and the Rattler’s Nest eatery.
