Special to the Outlook

FAMU students and faculty, along with staff from the local Home Depot all gathered at FAMU recently to celebrate the school’s prize of $30,000 in The Home Depot Retool Your School Campus Grant Program and to begin installation of its new walkway and flowerbeds.  The Retool Your School program, established in 2010, provides support for campus improvement projects at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the country. To date, the program has awarded $1.5 million  in grant money to HBCUs. This year, winnings totaled $300,000 in grants, distributed to nine accredited HBCUs that demonstrated, through a judging process, their need for funds to renovate their campuses.
