Emhoff touts vaccinations in Tallahassee
NSF Staff Report
With President Joe Biden trying to get 70 percent of the nation’s adult population vaccinated against COVID-19 by July 4, Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff last Thursday visited a Tallahassee medical clinic to try to boost the efforts.
Emhoff held a roundtable discussion at Neighborhood Medical Center, which is in a low-income area and serves Medicaid-eligible people and other residents on a sliding scale according to income, a White House pool report said.
Emhoff, the husband of Vice President Kamala Harris, also inspected a mobile vaccination unit.
“If you can’t come here (to the medical center) they’re going to come to you and make sure that you can get your vaccines,” Emhoff said.
He also thanked a local group of social workers, medical professionals, students and civic leaders for their “grass-roots” efforts to fight the pandemic.
“You’ve heard what I heard about this community coming together. It’s free and easy to get (vaccinated) in Tallahassee,” Emhoff said. “They’re out there fighting the misinformation, talking about doing it not for yourself, but do it for others … let’s get to that 70 percent.”
