Eleven former FAMU players selected to All-Time MEAC cross country teams

Eleven former FAMU cross country runners were named to the all-time Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference  50th anniversary cross country teams announced last week. 

On the women’s side, Cynthia Cheleigo, Judith Kibii, Emmax Kiplagat, Effiey Kosgei and QuanDra Shanks were named inside the top 50.  

Daniel Cheruiyot, Elias Cheshire, Anthony Huff, Omar Osbourne, David Too and Shauib Winter earned men’s honors. 

Cheleigo earned the 2015 MEAC Championship Outstanding Performer and holds the seventh (17 minutes, 49 seconds – 2015) and 78th (18:45.8 – 2013) fastest times. 

Kibii claimed the 2016 MEAC Championship Outstanding Performer honor and holds the 10th (17:53.9 – 2015), 17th (18:02.6 – 2016) and 86th (18:49.6 – 2014) fastest times. 

Kiplagat finished with the 27th (18:11.4 – 2017), T-69th (18:42.7 -2018) and 97th (18:52.5 – 2016) fastest times. 

Kosgei holds the 26th (18:10.8 – 2013) and 63rd (18:40.6 – 2015) fastest times. 

Shanks recorded the 40th (18:27.9 – 2013) and 43rd (18:30.9 – 2015) fastest times. 

 Cheruiyot registered the 30th fastest time, 25:17.1, in 2013. 

 Chesire garnered two-time MEAC Championship Outstanding Performer (2012, 2013) and holds the 13th (24:55.0 – 2012), 21st (25:04.0 – 2013) and T-68th (25:44.6 – 2011) fastest times. 

Huff captured the 1981 MEAC Championship Outstanding Performer.

Osbourne holds the 22nd-fastest time, 25:04.3, in 2005. 

Too was the 2017 MEAC Championship Outstanding Performer and holds the 10th fastest time, 24:48.8, in 2017. 

Winters was the 2010 MEAC Championship Outstanding Performer and holds the seventh (24:31.3 – 2010), 14th (24:56.9 – 2012) and 53rd (25:35.9 – 2011) fastest times. 

 To be considered on the ballot, a candidate’s time in the MEAC cross country championship must rank among the Top 100 times of all-time or must have been named Outstanding Performer of the MEAC Cross Country Championships.
