Special to the Outlook

Despite the unprecedented pandemic, the tradition of sophistication will continue with the presentation of  the 2020 Debutantes.

The event, which is hosted by the Leon County Chapter of The Charmettes, Inc., is being presented for the 49th year. Traditionally, the event allows families, friends and the community to celebrate a coterie of impressive young women.

This year’s Debutantes are Jazlyn Byrd, Elon Davis, Ameion Hamlet, Jabriya Hargrove, Kiara Harper, Ayonna Johnson, Amaya Maxwell, Alexis Scott.

These eight young women represent academic excellence, ambition and a devotion to their communities that should take each of them to a bright future. They each received outstanding recognition for their academic, extracurricular and community achievements.

The Chapter is proud and honored to present these bright and intelligent young ladies, who embodied extraordinary charm, grace, character and resilience despite the pandemic.

While this year’s event won’t be held in-person to allow families, friends and supporters to attend, the presentation has been re-imagined.  It will be staged virtually on Dec. 19 at 5 p.m. Organizers plan to present an elegant gala in the spirit of past presentations.

Supporters are encouraged to mark their calendars and follow the event on Facebook and Instagram, where more updates, along with continued coverage of this event will be posted.
