The Capital Park All-Star team fought to the bitter end, suffering a 12-11 loss to the Greenleaf All-Stars in the Dizzy Dean World Series at Southaven, Miss., on Monday.

Greenleaf advanced to face Grenada Rec. All-Stars, the only undefeated team, in the championship game Monday afternoon.

The Tallahassee team, which won the berth to the World Series by beating Tom Brown Park, finished with a 2-2 record in the double-elimination tournament. They were making the first World Series appearance by a team from Capital Park. 

Tallahassee opened the tournament with a 12-2 win before falling by an identical score to Grenada Rec. All-Stars. They continued in the losers’ bracket with an 11-4 win over the Horn Lake All-Stars, which set up Monday’s game.
