Attorney Jimmy Fasig

Jimmy Fasig is an outstanding local attorney, dedicated community volunteer, and this week’s Person of the Week. Jimmy is a shareholder and managing partner at Barrett, Fasig & Brooks, a local law firm voted the best law practice in Tallahassee for seven  years. He is a passionate and skilled trial lawyer devoted to fighting for the rights of the injured, both in his profession and as a volunteer.

As a young man, he hit a bump in the road with a felony drug conviction and spent two and a half years in prison. For a person with less determination, that one mistake could have ended a life of promise by setting him on a path of other bad choices; but not Jimmy Fasig. He used that lesson to propel him into a life of service to others. He was born in Van Nuys, California to a Guatemalan mother and an American father, and is bilingual. He graduated cum laude from the University of Central Florida and earned his law degree from Florida State University. And since, he and his wife Janette_ now with three daughters_have made Tallahassee their home.

Remembering his own past, Jimmy devotes countless volunteer hours to projects that inspire and give hope by speaking at prisons throughout North Florida, and as a member of the Inspired by Love Prison Ministry. He is also committed to improving conditions of the homeless through his work with The Less Fortunate Still Matter Foundation. He volunteers with outreach teams on weekends to pass out food, water, clothing, and personal hygiene items. He is, also, an active member of the Board of Directors for Tree House of Tallahassee, a local non-profit that houses displaced children and works to keep siblings housed together after losing their parents. For the past two years, Jimmy and the Barrett, Fasig, and Brooks law firm have sponsored the Fast Cars and Mason Jars fundraiser for the Tree House to provide funds to maintain a homelike environment for the children. Jimmy and the law firm are, also, major sponsors for several local organizations that include Capital City Youth Services (CCYS), Lee’s Place, Junior League of Tallahassee, American Heart Association, and Legal Services of North Florida. He has, also, provided free legal clinics for churches and community groups.

In addition to his dedication to excellence in his profession, and his selfless donation of time and resources to community service, Jimmy is a member of the Florida Bar, and Capital City Justice Association. In 2015 he was named among the Nation’s Top One Percent by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel, and honored as a Million Dollar Advocate by the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. And, now, the Capital Outlook Newspaper is adding another honor by naming Attorney Jimmy Fasig its Person of the Week.
