Akinyemi admitted to Leadership Florida Cornerstone Program

Leon County Property Appraiser Akin Akinyemi has been selected as a participant in Class 41 of the Leadership Florida Cornerstone Program.
Following a competitive application process, Akinyemi joins a class of senior-level leaders to participate in the nine-month educational program focused on issues critical to Florida and refining well-developed leadership skills.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to meet and learn from some of the state’s most experienced and influential community leaders,” Akinyemi said. “I’m also looking forward to sharing my own unique experiences and perspectives with my colleagues. It is an honor to be selected for such a prestigious opportunity.”
First elected in 2016 and re-elected in 2020, Akinyemi serves the citizens of Leon County as property appraiser. He previously served as a Leon County Commissioner from 2008 through 2012 after leading a regional architecture firm for over 20 years.
From 2021 to 2022, Akinyemi served as president of the Florida Association of Property Appraisers and continues to serve as a member of the board of directors. Akinyemi holds a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Studies from Florida State University, a Master of Architecture from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, a Bachelor of Science in Architecture & Housing Development from the University of Minnesota, and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design from the University of Lagos.
