Omega Psi Phi Fraternity welcomes students back

The morning of Aug. 13 members of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. took time out to welcome students and faculty back to Bond Elementary School in Tallahassee. The members of the Chi Omega Chapter and members of the Upsilon Psi Chapter shook hands, opened doors and provided kids with words of inspiration during the first day of classes. Brothers of the Fraternity took an hour to greet faculty, inspire students and welcome parents. The initiative was organized by Brother Dwayne Brown, a teacher at Bond Elementary and a member of the Chi Omega Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. Brothers saw this initiative as a bridge builder to show community support and reflect the understanding and importance of education. The members of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. showed up in suits and ties to represent the seriousness of obtaining an education. Social action initiatives like this help bridge gaps in the community and allow others to see the works of fraternal organizations such as the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. The cardinal principles of the fraternity are Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift. Education was a backbone for the founders of the fraternity and is upheld in the principle of Scholarship. Chi Omega Chapter Basileus Royle King was joined by Brothers Money Monroe (Upsilon Psi), Dwayne Brown (Chi Omega), Ki-Jana Garmon(Upsilon Psi), Andreas Harris( Upsilon Psi), Jeremy Smith( Upsilon Psi), and Curtis Rush(Chi Omega). These brothers did a great job in connecting with the community and promoting the importance of education.
