Nominations needed for Person of the Week
Staff Report
Since May 2017, a deserving local resident has been featured each week in this space as the Capital Outlook Newspaper’s Person of the Week. Those persons profiled have been people with whose contributions I was already familiar or those who were recommended by past persons of the week. Only two nominations were received in the past 10 months from the general public.
There are so many residents of Leon County and surrounding areas who are making contributions to the community through their professional and volunteer service worthy of being considered as Person of the Week. However, we need you, the public, to nominate deserving people you know. There are over a hundred non-profits, many churches, educational institutions, and civic organizations in our area that benefit from the services of wonderful volunteers to achieve their mission. Likewise, there may be a local business or organization leader who provides sponsorships or partner support in addressing a community need.
Nominating them for Person of the Week is a good way to acknowledge and say thank you for their generous contributions to your agency or organization.
Simply send your nomination with the nominee’s e-mail or phone number, your name and organization to dotinman-johnson@hotmail.com. Local leaders are regularly covered in the media. However, every day heroes who volunteer to mentor children, support food programs for children, the elderly and the poor, organize youth activities, do community improvement/ beautification projects, volunteer in our schools and homeless programs are great candidates. The Capital Outlook Newspaper looks forward to recognizing your volunteers. Send your nominations today.
