Special to the Outlook

Sidney Watts is President/ CEO of Parallel Synergistic Consulting, Inc. who has made his mark as a very successful businessman while remaining personally involved in helping his customers to be successful. Sidney is a native of Fort Walton Beach, Florida and has been a Tallahassee resident since 1996. He served in the U.S. Army for three years after high school graduation, working as an electronic/ mechanical systems technician on the HAWK missile and radar system. One of the three years was spent in electronics technical school at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.

He graduated from Louisiana State University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. His degree and related past experience prepared him well for his chosen profession. His first job upon graduation was with RCA on Eglin Air Force Base where he designed electronic circuits and wrote software programs, specializing in digital and analog electronic control systems. In May of 1996, Sidney bought into Standard Business Machines Inc., now known as Southeast Digital Networks Inc., and helped to revolutionize the business with upgrades that took it from a typewriter repair facility to a state-of-the-art company. Those upgrades included sales and maintenance of computers, networks, firewalls, Terminal Server Solutions, hardware and software, website and e-mail hosting, and almost any technology needs for a successful business.

On August 12, 2005, he stepped out on faith and founded Parallel Synergistic Consulting, Inc. The business specializes in network design, installation, and maintenance. Sidney does not let his title of President/ CEO get in the way of his hands-on approach to service delivery. Many new customers are surprised to see the company president at their agency working side by side with his employees to ensure technology needs are met. He is highly respected among his business peers and serves on the Lively Technical School’s Computer and Computer Networking School Board. With Sidney’s record of achievement, he could easily sit back and enjoy a more relaxed work schedule and a profitable business. But that’s not Sidney. Throughout his professional career here in Tallahassee, he has been giving back to the community through volunteer service and discounted rates for non-profits with limited budgets.

There is a long list of community-based non-profits that have benefitted from their long standing business and partnership relationship with Sidney and Parallel Synergistic Consulting. The list includes Capital Area Community Action Agency, Communities in Schools, Echo Outreach Ministries, Florida Association for Community Action, Florida Impact, Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Tallahassee Housing Authority, and America’s Second Harvest of the Big Bend.
The Capital Outlook Newspaper, therefore, extends thanks to Mr. Sidney Watts for his service to Tallahassee and the Florida Big Bend area by naming him this week’s PERSON OF THE WEEK.
