FAMU baseball/softball programs set summer camps

FAMU will hold its first baseball Prospect Showcase for high school athletes on June 24 at Moore-Kittles Field.
The showcase is a one-day event and the cost of participation is $125. Meals and lodging will not be provided.
Players will get the opportunity to display their abilities in front of the FAMU coaching staff in a pro-style workout. Pitchers will throw bullpens while position players will run the 60-yard dash and take extended infield and outfield, followed by batting practice on the field.
This showcase will be a major component in helping the baseball staff meet their recruiting needs. Prospects can register on the internet by visiting www.famubaseballcamps.com.
Meanwhile, FAMU’s softball program will hold its annual Summer Camp for children third through 12th grade. The camp runs three days, beginning June 12.
Third through seventh graders will be in camp June 12 and eighth through 12th graders will participate on June 13.
Participants will be in an environment that is dedicated to the improvement of their skills as a softball player. The first two days will focus on defense and offense while June 14, third through 12th graders will focus on pitching and catching techniques.
Single entry fee is $50, while pitcher / catcher combinations will cost $80. Campers will receive a T-shirt and snacks.
Participants must provide their own equipment. All proceeds will benefit the Rattlers softball team.
