Precision Communication, a student ran public relations organization on Florida A&M University (FAMU) campus, held a press conference on Wednesday, Jan.13 to announce their partnership with Master Media Group (MMG) to promote the upcoming Hollywood feature faith based film/and soundtrack Restored Me. MMG is partnering with FAMUs School of Journalism & Graphics Communication (SJGC) to give the students a chance to showcase their innovative minds in the field of journalism, public relations and graphics.
FAMU alumni and Grammy Award winning record executive and film/tv music supervisor Amir Windom, and Film Director, Restored Me, Rhyan Lamarr spoke at the conference about FAMUs SJGC involvement with the film and soundtrack. Precision Communication was presented with an opportunity to showcase their journalism skills to help promote and market the new Hollywood film/and soundtrack here in the local and surrounding areas.
Windom believed that FAMU SJGC was the perfect school to partner with for the Restore Me film and soundtrack campaign.
“When I started thinking about ways to engage with students of course I thought about FAMU,” said Windom. “FAMU was number one because the school of journalism holds an ethical standard for producing great talent and producing great quality. Obviously, I feel like a representative of that because Dean Kimbrough does an amazing job in preparing these students for the professional world,” he said.
Ayana Zulu, director of Precision Communications, expressed how she felt about SJGC joining forces with MMG.
“We are so honor(ed) to able to be (a) part of this project because we normally don’t get opportunities like this. For our FAMU alum to actually come back and be our mentor and our clients its a great opportunity,” she said.
The movie Restored Me, is a comedic drama for an audience looking to be uplifted. The film’s purpose is to restore faith. The film is targeted to the faith based audience but this really focuses on the 18-25 age demographics.
“The film is about restoration, We really try to get the message out there about restoration, faith, hope and forgiveness,” said Lamarr. “One of our biggest mottos we strived for in making this film is “I don’t look like what I been through.”
“Not only for the actors in the film and not only for the crew but just in general getting the message out that we are not perfect. Our characters are not perfect in the film and we hope that the film definitely shed a light via message to the people about stepping out on faith,” he added.
The Restored Me film also includes a 17 song faith-based soundtrack that includes some of the biggest artists like Ledisi, Lecrae, Faith Evans, Tramaine Hawkins, Shirley Murdock, Jacob Latimore and many more.
Windom said this is one of his proudest soundtracks.
“We wanted to create a product that not only inspires and go along with the film, but we wanted to create a product that will bring more visibility to the film and diversity. This is going to be one of those soundtracks that the people going to play over and over,” he said.
