Community groups bring holiday cheer to HOPE Community residents
Special to the Outlook
Children living at the Family Promise of the Big Bend’s HOPE Community got the Easter season off with an egg hunt in their neighborhood.
In addition to the hunt, Junior League of Tallahassee members created decorative Easter baskets for families in the shelter. Each basket was filled with food, laundry essentials, and holiday treats.
The Junior League collaborated with the MLK Foundation of Florida and the Leon County Sheriff’s Office to put on the event. Volunteers from the three organizations went door-to-door helping the Easter Bunny deliver baskets to the families.
JLT launched a partnership with Family Promise of the Big Bend’s HOPE Community in 2017. The HOPE Community provides emergency shelter to families with minor children and works to end family homelessness by providing residents with tools for employment, education, assistance with housing options and access to supportive services. The Junior League of Tallahassee is dedicated to advancing women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration and training.
