FSU’s Korbmacher sets best time at Grand Prix

BOSTON – Florida State men’s track and field hurdler Andre Korbmacher finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston, Mass.

As the only collegiate athlete in the field for the Sunday competition, Korbmacher established a personal best time in the preliminary round at 7.69. He shaved fractions of a second off that time with by running 7.67 in the final.

His time is the sixth-fastest in FSU history and currently stands in first in the ACC and fifth in the nation.

“Andre showed great composure racing against the best in the world,” said associate head coach Matt Kane. “He earned two new personal best and a top-five NCAA time which puts him as a strong contender to make the finals at the NCAA championships in March.”

The New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, formerly known as the Boston Indoor Games, is part of the USA Track and Field Visa Championship Series and attracts high-caliber athletes that include Olympic and World Championship medalists.
