Athletes, fans help Boosters kickoff fall sports season

The Rattler Boosters held their Fall Sports Kickoff Luncheon last Sunday at Lawson Center. FAMU athletics was represented by the cheerleaders and athletes from the women cross country, volleyball and football teams. 

The event was also attended by coaches and more than 800 boosters and fans.

Darryl Jones was master of ceremony. Selvin Cobb, President of the Boosters Board of Directors, welcomed the crowd and led the audience in a standing ovation for the student athletes and coaches. Greetings were delivered by Athletics Director Tiffani Sykes and President Larry Robinson.

 A Sponsorship Award was presented to JV& Sons Inc., which operates 21 McDonald’s stores in Tallahassee. They have supported the Kick Off Luncheons for the last five years.

 Roy and Jackie Moore owners of the Piggly Wiggly Stores in Quincy and Tallahassee were honored for their contributions to the FAMU athletic program.

Rattler Booster’s Life Membership awards were presented to 14 new members. Fans were able to purchase Black Art pieces via a Silent Auction. Door prizes were awarded and the grand prize was a 55-inch SMART television.
