U.S. Department of Education and Thurgood Marshall College Fund officials toured the FAMU  and visit the newly acquired apartment complexes, Lighthouse at Brooklyn Yard and Citivue at Railroad on Eugenia Street.

The daylong visit was a celebration of the impact on Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds (HEERF) on the University.

The new names of the two complexes were unveiled as Rattle Point West and Rattler Point East, respectively. The 118-bed and 116-bed additions are now part of the on-campus student housing.

The announcement comes a week after the university announced plans to construction 2,000 new student beds over the next several years to meet the demand for on-campus student housing.
