Pastor Judy Mandrell received one of the highest honors bestowed on a resident when she was presented the key to the city by Tallahassee’s Mayor John Dailey.

The honor was presented last Wednesday at the City Commission’s first meeting of the year.

“Wow,” Mandrell said after the presentation. “Very seldom am I lost forwords. Very, very seldom do I want to just cry. I am honored.

“I thank God for this recognition and for the opportunity to serve. I am floored.”

Mandrell, who is co-pastor at Live Changers Church of God in Christ with her husband, Gerald, thanked the mayor and each commissioner individually.

Several of her supporters from a cross-section of the community attended the event inside the commission’s chamber at City Hall.

Prior to the presentation, Dailey said the honor is one that goes to  “incredible individuals in this community.” In addition to hosting “Real Talk with Judy on Hallelujah 95.3, Mandrell is founder of Dream Builders Greatness Center and is also a member of several civic organizations.

Dailey later said of Mandrell, “She is an amazing individual. We’ve all been touched by Dr. Mandrell and the work that she does in our community.”
