Harvey named Delta Kappa Omega Chapter’s AKA Soror of the Year
Donna Harvey was recently recognized as the Soror of the Year for the Delta Kappa Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
Each year the chapter recognizes an outstanding soror for her active participation and exemplary commitment to the chapter’s programs and activities.
A 27-year life member of the sorority, Harvey currently serves as a member-at-large on the Executive Committee and co-chairman of the Spiritual Outreach Committee. Harvey was humbled to receive the recognition.
“I am honored to have been voted Soror of the Year by my dynamic sorors,” said Harvey. “I will cherish this esteemed honor forever and continue to serve in excellence. To God Be the Glory for the things He has done.”
“Donna is an exemplary leader in our organization, and she has demonstrated sustained service to our chapter and to the community,” said Lerosa Brown, chapter president. “In addition to having served as our assistant financial secretary, she is a member of the executive board, has been co-chairman of several committees and is involved in several chapter activities. She is someone who we can always count on to use her skills, ideas and talents to serve.”
Lanell McCaskill, the organization’s chaplain, lauded Harvey’s commitment to service.
“What makes Donna’s service so outstanding is that she not only serves on the committees where she is assigned, but you can find her contributing her expertise and experience to so many other committees where she can make a difference.”
Harvey’s service is not limited to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She is the First Lady of Greater Blessings Tabernacle of Praise and wears multiple hats. In addition to being an elder, she chairs the Women in Action Ministry, while being a church administrator, teacher, and mass choir member.
Harvey has worked for 31 years as a health-care administration. After graduating from Florida A&M University with a degree in Health Care Management, she has used her expertise to serve others in the community. Vice President and owner of Innovative Health Care Management Services, Inc., Harvey is a licensed nursing home administrator, certified occupancy specialist, and a licensed community association manager. She is married to Rev. Dr. DeWayne Harvey, pastor of Greater Blessings Tabernacle of Praise. They have four children and two grandchildren.
Harvey often says, “If I can help somebody, as I pass along, then my living shall not be in vain.” It is her faith that inspires her, and she lives her philosophy daily: “Don’t downgrade your dream to match your reality, upgrade your faith to match your destiny.”
