New personnel named to FAMU communications team in athletics

FAMU has revamped its communications personnel in the athletic department, with the addition of three new staff members.

The additions were announced by Director of Athletics, Kortne Gosha. The three men who will run the Communications and Digital Strategy Department are Josh Padilla, Devin P. Grimes, and Patrick Perala.

Padilla will serve as the director of communications and digital strategy. He comes to FAMU after a short stint at Middle Tennessee State University. Padilla played a pivotal role in ensuring that the Blue Raider football program led the way in digital content among Conference USA programs. Padilla will oversee athletics communication, social media, and digital content.

Grimes, who also comes from MTSU, joins the Rattlers as assistant director of communications and photography. Grimes covered all home sporting events for the Blue Raiders, alongside all freelance photography for Grammy-nominated producer Tay Keith and MLB All-Star Mookie Betts.

Perala joins the Rattlers as a graphic designer after working in the same capacity for several years as a freelancer. He has done design work for Florida International University men’s basketball, Duke Athletics, and Middle Tennessee State University football.
