Jefferson County Fire and Rescue Chief Mark Matthews received a thermal imaging camera that will detect body heat and hot spots in burning buildings.
“This thermal imaging camera will do a lot of things for us. The main thing is to help us find victims in burning buildings,” said Matthews.
The thermal imaging camera is worth more than $10,000.
“$10,000 is a lot for a community like us and this is going to help a lot,” added Matthews.
FAMU President Elmira Mangum and FAMU Police Department received first aid kits and two mini ambulances.
“This is the kind of community support that we need because you see a need and the community responds,” Mangum said.
